ORGANIC Eucalyptus Honey

The honey is absolutely natural and untreated.

Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus Camaldulensis, Eucalyptus Globulus) is an evergreen plant, native to Australia, introduced into Italy at the end of the 18th century and currently widespread throughout the Tyrrhenian Italy and the islands.

It flowers from June to August but in Calabria, and in particular in the Crotone area, a unifloral honey is also produced from E. globulus in September. This honey tends to have a darker color and a more robust aroma than E. camaldulensis summer honey.
Color ranging from dark amber to brown, intense and balsamic aroma, enveloping taste with notes of caramel and liquorice. Low sugar flavor compared to other types of light honey.

Especially eucalyptus honey is rich in antioxidants, especially flavonoids, which makes it an excellent ally in counteracting free radicals and cellular aging.
It has strong antibacterial and antiseptic properties thanks also to the presence of small quantities of propolis collected from the same trees. It therefore represents an excellent remedy against feverish and cold states, carrying out a fluidifying and mucolytic action against coughs and catarrh, and antipyretic. Its antibacterial properties also make it a valid aid in combating mild urinary tract infections such as cystitis.
It has healing properties on canker sores and mouth wounds.

Eucalyptus honey is widely used in cooking, it can easily be combined with mature cheeses, but finds interesting uses with meat, particularly in marinades and in accompanying sweet and sour sauces.
